Design Principles: Final Project - Visual Analysis
Design Principles: Final Project (Visual Analysis)
For our final project, we were asked to design something that resembled Reduced Inequalities. It took me a while to figure out what inequality that I could design and produce. After watching disney movies, I realised there was a lot of female villains and sometimes a male villain. So, I wanted to create an artwork that shows a darker side of a male villain while a bright side of a female villain.
Brainstorming and Drafting Process

Ms. Anis said that the draft design is good and she liked how the nose and the mouth were connected to the other character. She said to add elements at the background to resemble a villain's atmosphere. I made Cruella with brighter colours while Shan Yu with darker colours as darker colours highlights a character's darkness. I added clouds or mist as usually villains would make a eye-catching entrance such as puff of smoke.
Final Design

I found it hard to do this task as it was hard to draw ideas I initially had. I even had feedbacks from friends that said the artwork was really creepy and weird. I was thinking maybe I should change my design entirely. I told Ms. Anis what my friends have commented and she said that villains are supposed to create a very uneasy feeling and atmosphere. If they mentioned it was weird and creeping them out, my artwork has already done what it was meant to do.
