Digital Photography & Imaging: Project 2B (Poster Design for MyTIGER Values)
Digital Photography and Imagine: Project 2B (Poster Design for MyTIGER Values)
Project 2B requires us to enter the same competition as we did in Illustration & Visual Narrative module. The competition is hosted by Maybank titled 'MyTIGER Values Art Competition 2023'. Our theme for this competition is based on the chosen 12 Sustainable Development Goals (Figure 1.1).

Drafting Process:
In contrast with my chosen topic in Illustration & Visual Narrative, I decided to do Life on Land. I had an idea in my mind and decided to find similar designs that could help bring the design into picture. I even looked at previous MyTIGER competition winners' artwork to gain some inspiration. First reference I used was I found on Google where I have a contrast between land and water (Figure 1.2). Next, I found that a winner in the previous competition had a similar concept of what my artwork could be (Figure 1.3). The third reference, I liked the idea of the tiger looking at a pond with its reflection (Figure 1.4). Initially, I wanted to portray a tiger surrounded by either burning forest or a polluted environment. The tiger would look at a broken mirror that reflects what the tiger ideal world would be (Figure 1.5).

However, after trying to find the elements for my design, I found it super hard to collect them. Then, I had to brainstorm another design. This time, I decided to have the background to be a polluted city with a landfill filled with trash with a contrast of a lake that reflected a harmonious green scenery. Two tiger would be walking along the line of intersection, one dying tiger while the other to be a healthy tiger.
After collecting the elements for my second design, I started placing these elements together. Using double exposure, I combined both a city landscape that has air pollution with an industrial estate with heavy air pollutants. I managed to find a lake that had still water and a reflection of a green forest. Initially, the tiger I have chosen was different to the design (Figure 1.6). However, after consultation with Mr. Fauzi, he highlighted that the tiger I have chosen was very doll-like and had to find another tiger that was more animated. So, I manage to find another tiger that I found was more animated compared to the first one. I started putting all the elements together and produced the first draft (Figure 1.7).

Then, I realised that the landfill was kind of awkward and decided to find another landfill. I decided to add elements (such as rocks) around the pond to make it more contrasting and elevate the design. Not only that, I even do some research about landfills and some places do actually burn the landfills in order for the trash to decompose faster. So, using double exposure, I decided to add fire that complements the existing air pollution that looks like the fire is releasing the smoke (Figure 1.8).

After placing the rocks on the right side, I decided to place any sorts of trash on the left to create a border between the corrupted side and the ideal world side. At the late a.m., I realised that I wanted the tiger to be a dead tiger and more like a soul of a tiger walking on the polluted earth and it wished to have a different life where he was healthy and enjoying how nature intended. So, I decided to make the tiger to be more transparent to make it more ghost-like (Figure 1.9). Then, I added more elements to the rock to make it more realistic by placing grasses and weeds including lilypads (Figure 1.10).

Final Design:
However, after some feedbacks from friends, I decided to omit the lilypads as I felt like they were too distracting and the main focus was the tiger. I did some touch-up and produced the final design for my poster (Figure 2).
