Illustration & Visual Narrative: Exercise 1 (Vormator Character)
We were asked to design a character based on the shapes given by us. We were given a set of rules on how to use these shapes. Using Adobe Illustrator, we traced the shape according to the image given below (Figure 1.1).

Drafting Process:
Personally, I found it hard to brainstorm a character design. Initially, I wanted to make a character that resembles an owl or a bird (Figure 1.2). However, I found that the character was a bit creepy and I was not happy with the work that I put together. So I decided to design another character.

After playing around, I realised that it looked really weird and came up with a bottom part of the racoon-mermaid and give it several tails. I was inspired by the mythical creature; the nine-tailed fox, and decided to incorporate that into my character (Figure 1.4).

After colouring the character, I showed to Mr Hafiz, and he told me to be mindful of the body proportion and have the hands attached instead of floating. I have taken the advice and adjusted the body proportions (Figure 1.5).
